This is a cool movie that let you enjoy lots of very well done 3D fx. Cameron took advantage of this technology to make a good show. The CGI characters for the Na'vi are great... It's the first time that I see so good and expressive gestures in faces made by computer. The only "fault" for this movie is that the story is quite simple and not new at all (I'm not talking about the brilliant new planet and its ecosystem and environment). I mean, really this is a mix between "Dances with Wolves", "Pocahontas" and "Star Trek" although very well filmed. So i felt a kind of "déjà-vu", but anyway, the movie is great.

Number 9 (Nine)

I was waiting for a long to see this movie since I saw the original short film made by the same director Shane Acker in 2005, and although the film is not as good as I hoped, the result it's pretty interesting. It's a cool experiment about the "stitch-punk" that I really loved and you can feel that Tim Burton (who is the producer) is behind it. The technical animation is good, the story is slightly simple and a little bit prudish sometimes, but I enjoyed.

Cell 211 (Celda 211)

Without a doubt this is one of the best thrillers that I saw last year. The story is good, the tension is good, the performance is good... Really, except a little detail almost all the movie is very good.... Summarizing... it's a brilliant movie and a good example to show to some of the whining people of the Spanish cinema that having good ideas and creativity let you make good movies and compete without spending a lot of money!

Planet 51

This is a cool bet on the computer animation that the Spanish cinema business made. The result is funny and the graphical quality is absolutely impeccable. The animators made a brilliant work and you can feel that they hired the original writer of Shrek to make the script. This film is perfect to take your nephews (if you need these kind of excuses to see it ;)

A Clockwork Orange

I love this movie since the first time I saw it long time ago and I'm really happy because with this rerelease, it's the first time that I saw this awesome movie in a good theater, with a huge screen, with an amazing high definition image and with a great Dolby digital audio. This movie is simply amazing, and it's not easy to believe that Kubrick could make this film in 1971. The thematic about the life of that gang in a dystopian Britain of the near future (although with a cool seventies look&feel curiously typical now) and the hard criticism about the violence and the egoism (absolutely usual now) and the criticism about the behaviorism psychological techniques, are brilliant. The music of Beethoven, the sequences and the performance of Malcolm McDowell and the rest of the cast are fantastic. To me, this movie is almost perfect and it's a good example to show why Kubrick was a genius. Take advantage and go to see it at your nearest theater!

Katyn

An excellent Polish film that shows quite clearly one of the most horrible hidden events of the WWII (only confessed 50 years later by Gorbachev). One of the massive and bloody crimes made by Stalin, who ordered to kill coolly 22,000 people (the higher Polish officers and most of their elite people of the country) to erase the possibility that Poland could "reborn" after Stalin and Hitler dealt out Poland like a pie. Very recommendable.

Agora

I love the work of Amenabar since "Tesis" of 1996 and I liked a lot this movie, although I think after I was reading a lot about it, and waiting for a long time to see Agora and the result was not the master piece that I expected. This is n...ot a good example of rigorous historical investigation: lots of details about Hypatia of Alexandria are almost invented, and the attempt to show the Christians as a kind of Talibans are pretty forced, but anyway the film is great in a lot of ways. The set to recreate the old Alexandria is amazing, the gorgeous Rachel Weisz looks and works as awesome as usual, and the music is good. I hope next Amenabar's movie is better, but this is very recommendable as a good example of the new Spanish cinema.
